Blu-ray-thumbnailFrom reputable sources we came to know that Toshiba has finally joined the Blu-ray camp after abandoning the HD DVD format for more than a year.

According to the Japanese Daily Yomiuri newspaper, Toshiba will release a BD player later this year. A BD recorder is expected for Toshiba’s home market of japan.

This move came after Toshiba rejected the notion of getting into online media distribution and developing a new generation of television technology. It is been observed that there is a rapid growth of Blu-ray in Japan.

There is no detail available as well as no confirmation from Toshiba itself.

Toshiba had spent time and effort insisting that HD DVD is a better format. It would be painful for Toshiba to admit that it was all waste of effort and resources.
