Twitter has started something which would be appreciated and welcomed by many. Special thanks to Leena Rao of TechCrunch for sharing this useful information with the rest of us. I think many of you might have even seen it with your own eyes. Anyhow, Twitter has initiated the process of hyperlinking hashtags. Thinking what a hashtag is. Well if you say that it is a word(s) that is preceded by a # (hashtag) then you are absolutely right.
HashTags simplify and ease the process of searching for tweets about specific topics and events. I myself gave a try for #windows7, you go ahead and try searching for your favorite topic. Clicking on the hyperlinked hashtags takes you to the search result page for that hashtag
This is not something that is unique and new. Besides the popular microblogging network, FriendFeed has done it, a few of the desktops applications of Tweetie and Seesmic desktop also provide the similar functionality.
Twitter sees search as a naviagtion tool and to prove it once again, it has provided yet another mean for people to discover new Tweets beyond the group of their followers.
In short, linked hashtags are yet another way to look into the existing search which Twitter provides. I dont know about you guys, but if you ask me I simply love this feature.
