On Thursday (as we informed previously), Vodafone started offering iPhone to its UK user base and what a start it was – the title of the post completely reflects it. In just 24 hours, it managed to sold 50,000 units of iPhone. How is that for a brisky start? Folks at Apple will be happy about it without any doubt. Vodafone quite easily managed to beat Nexus One which managed to sold a meagre 20,000 copies in the first week of its launch.

The twist to the tale here is the fact that Vodafone is not the first carrier to offer iPhone in UK, infact it is the fourth. Orange, O2, and Telsa are already offering this little beauty from Apple. To Vodafone’s delight, they managed to go past Orange’s first day record by a ratio of 5:3.

This is significant, when you consider the fact that Vodafone is not the first carrier, plus they offered it at rates similar to that of Orange and O2. What does this mean? The competition is definitely getting tougher and all the specific carriers need to be on their heels to jump on to even the slimmest chance of getting edge over their fierce rivals.
