WiFi Tethering for Motorola Droid enabled
What was one thing that was missing from Motorola’s highly advertised Droid? WiFi Tethering would be one of the correct answers. Well the tethering capability is no longer missing. You can once again thank the Android hacking community (specifically DroidForums.net) for achieving this feat. From what we gather, not only this fix enables tethering over the Android powered phone but also enables the same capability over WiFi.
This is not the first ever solution which enables this feature but it is unique in nature and is independent of external drivers unlike the similar functionality offered by PDANet. The PDANet version requires you to install a driver on your Windows or Mac powered computer.
The latest hack is free from this limitation. However, it does require you to run Motorola Droid on top of a hacked Android 2.0.1 firmware. However we would strongly recommend not to go for this solution due to the following warning posted by the hackers themselves
if your phone stays at the white Motorola logo for longer than a minute or two, you probably bricked [it]
So if you can afford to take a risk, then this hack is just the thing you were waiting for. Alternately, you can wait for a more stable and mature solution to be revealed, a possibility which can’t be ruled out.
