Microsoft looks all set to initiate external testing for Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1). This interesting bits of news was revealed by Rafael Rivera of Within Windows as he noticed the presence of a beta ‘candidacy check’ within in one of the recent updates rolled out by Windows Update.
The candidacy check practice is not a new one. Same technique was applied by the IT giants in the case of Windows Vista – the addition of a key and value pair that authorizes the user to download the update.
From what we gather, Rafael Rivera is bang on target about the arrival of Windows 7 SP1. Back in November, it was rumored that Microsoft would be rolling out the SP1 Beta in January 2010 which I presume is no longer a rumor.
