We all know that Microsoft started working on the next version of Windows, Windows 8 once they launched Windows 7. But what we don’t know is when will it be released. That is all going to change now thanks to Chris Green, a Microsoft product manager. The PM has published a roadmap, or GANTT chart if you like that suggest 1st, July 2011 as the release date for Windows 8. Wait, the chart has a lot of other useful information such as the support dates for the fastest selling OS,  and other Microsoft products. All of this and more after the jump.

This chart confirms the claim of Office 2010 going RTM in July 2010. Here are the dates that might be of some interest to you

  • Windows 7 users will be getting mainstream support till 1st July, 2016
  • Extended support for Windows 7 users will last till 1st July, 2021
  • Office 2007 mainstream support will come to an end on 10th April, 2012
  • Office 2012 is expected to be announced/released in July 2012
