Remember Cotulla, the XDA developer was the first to boot Windows Phone 7 on HTC HD2? Well the very same developer who along with the DFT team has made some progress. As a matter of fact, he has completed Windows Phone 7 port for HTC HD2 based on a tweet posted by the hacker himself.

Here’s the tweet which says to us – Windows Phone 7 is about to land on HTC HD2:

it will be released soon, but don’t expect anything from it – without Live services it’s not really usable :-(

The Windows Phone 7 on HTC HD2 will be a rather limited port since the HTC HD2 won’t be able to connect to Windows Live no thanks to Windows Phone Genuine. Windows Phone Genuine is a verification system used by Microsoft to check if the device is Windows Phone 7 compliant. Since HTC HD2 is not officially supported you won’t be getting access to Windows Live services on your sexy smartphone. Without Windows Live you won’t have access to Zune services, Windows Marketplace and so on.

Here’s what will work on your HTC HD2:

  • GSM
  • GPRS
  • Camera
  • GSensor
  • USB
  • SD
  • BT
  • WLAN
