WordPress 2.8 RC1 available for download
As we reported previously in a blog post that WordPress 2.8 is expected to be available on 10th June. The latest development regarding the WordPress 2.8 is that Release Candidate 1 is now available for download. It appears that WordPress 2.8 is on schedule to be released tomorrow. RC1 might be the only and final RC released before the final release. This is what the official WordPress blog had to say about the RC1:
With Release Candidate 1, we think WordPress 2.8 is ready and complete. Download it, test it, and tell us what you think. If you don’t uncover any bad bugs, 2.8 will be released on Wednesday the 10th.
You might have read our post regarding what are the features that can be expected with the arrival of WordPress 2.8. These include:
- Loading would occur at a faster pace
- Using Widgets would become easier
- Improved Plugin Search
- A new scheme and theme for administration
- Search for themes
Besides this the WordPress will also provide:
- Add custom headers
- Syntax Highlighting for Plugins and Theme editor
- Configuring the number of items to show on management pages with an option in Screen Options
- Support timezones and automatic daylight savings time adjustment
